"The Exam" — an exhibit by Lori Wright and Neil Ward

Now on exhibit through March 29, 2017

SPECIAL EVENT: First Friday Reception, March 3, 5–7 p.m. The artists, Lori Wright and Neil Ward, will be present at the reception to discuss their work. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

The Gallery at Kansas Wesleyan University will be featuring an art installation by KWU Art and Design professors, Lori Wright and Neil Ward. This installation titled, “The Exam,” explores an inner world of emotion and attachment within the medical exam room. The exhibit opens on February 20 and run through March 29. The Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and weekends by appointment.

In this unique installation featuring sculpture, drawings, 3D printing and LED lighting, the viewer is invited to explore the interplay of the mind and body and to connect to a story many have experienced, but few have shared. The average patient will see 18 to 28 doctors in a lifetime. In the U.S. there are 125.7 million hospital visits and 928.6 million doctor visits. This is not an exhibition; it is an experience. This work is inspired by the artists’ individual experiences with and feelings about the medical system.

The public is invited to the First Friday Reception on Friday, March 3 from 3–7 p.m. in the Gallery. The artists will be present, and refreshments will be provided.
