Religion and Philosophy Career Opportunities

There are lots of things you can do with a major in religion. Religion has to do with the way in which the whole world is connected. Religion also has to do with the deepest reflection in pursuit of the greatest insight.

With a degree in religion, you can of course go on to ordained ministry. You can become a pastor, minister or priest. You can also pursue the areas of youth ministry, music ministry, children’s ministry, educational ministry, or ministry with adults. Religion also provides excellent preparation for social work, recovery, and counseling

A religion major provides important preparation for other vocations as well, including teaching, law, medicine, business, and a host of others. Why? Because religion helps us understand not only how to live, but what to live for. A police officer with a background in religion, can think about the larger world of justice, the way in which we interact with people, and how to conduct ourselves with integrity as we pursue our calling. Religion is of benefit to many walks of life.

If you choose religion as your major, the entire KWU faculty can support you as you grow in your understanding of the many ways in which we are connected to God, one another, and the world. We are all here to help.
