Sport and Exercise Science

The Department of Sport and Exercise Science offers a dynamic program that prepares graduates for employment in related areas requiring a health, physical education or recreation degree. A student may choose to become certified to teach physical education at the elementary, middle, and secondary school levels. Certification for teaching health at the secondary level also may be obtained either in conjunction with the physical education teaching major or in conjunction with another teaching area. Both an Athletic Training Major and a Sports Management Major are offered within the department. An Outdoor Leadership minor, HPER minor, a Health minor, and Coaching certification are additional options for students.

In addition to the professional programs, cooperative programs, and graduate school preparation, the department also offers a service program for the liberal studies requirement.

A minimum of 126 hours is required for the degrees, including the appropriate Liberal Studies Program and all major requirements.
