Alex White '16

Alex White, from Van, TX, landed a paid program coordinator position for two organizations in the same office in Falls Church, VA. The Circle of Friends for American Veterans (COFAV) is a non-political group that raises public awareness on veterans’ issues. The Center for American Homeless Veterans is a political advocacy group, for which White served as senior editor for its 40-page 2014 Veterans’ Vision Campaign publication, released every two years. He contacted congressional offices and campaigns, edited articles, decided who to endorse and wrote endorsements, and helped design the cover.

After Veterans’ Vision was released in mid-October, White spent his time researching legislative priorities for COFAV to have new material for the next Veterans’ Bill of Rights.

“Working with COFAV and the Veterans’ Vision, I have my foot in the door if I wanted to work in the lobby and advocacy field, especially for veterans’ issues,” White said.

Though a senior, White will stay another year
at KWU to play tennis and prepare for law school. After graduation, he plans on becoming
a trial lawyer.
