Coyote Baseball set for home opener on Tuesday

After spending the entire month of February on the road, the Kansas Wesleyan Baseball squad is looking forward to their home opener on Tuesday evening.
If the weather cooperates, the Coyotes will host Central Christian College in a single nine inning game starting at 6:00 PM at Dean Evans Stadium. As of Sunday afternoon, weather forecasts call for rain on Monday night, and a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday. Regardless of rain, the forecast also calls for windy conditions, meaning any rain on Monday night could be dried out by game time… if the much needed rain holds off on Tuesday.
If there is baseball, it could be a high scoring affair. The previously mentioned windy conditions call for the blustery conditions to come out of the southwest, perfect home run hitting conditions for Evans Stadium, with its short fences and southwest to northeast orientation.
The Coyotes, under first year coach David Dawson, are currently 5-9 overall before this weekend’s games at Oklahoma Baptist.
Trevor Howell leads the Coyotes with a .375 batting average offensively, and AJ Anthony leads the Coyote starting pitchers with a 1-3 record, and a 4.01 ERA in four games this season.
Central Christian is currently 5-1 overall, and is 3-0 against other Kansas Conference schools this season, beating Tabor once and Sterling twice.
