Romero earns Region IV Gold Glove honor

LINDSBORG – Kansas Wesleyan second baseman Dustin Romero was named as the NAIA Region IV Gold Glove Winner at second base for the 2007 season. He was also named the KCAC Gold Glove Winner at second base in the KCAC.
The award, in its first year, is sponsored by Rawlings.
He was the only All-Region selection for the Coyotes in 2007, who finished 27-26 overall and 15-9 in KCAC play and captured the Post-Season Baseball Tournament championship.
Wesleyan also advanced to the Region IV Baseball Tournament held in Omaha, Neb.
Romero, a junior from Las Vegas, Nev. (Cerro Coso CC, Calif.), had only nine errors in 238 chances for a .962 fielding percentage. He also had 114 putouts and 115 assists. He was part of 27 double plays the Coyotes converted during the season.
At the plate, he batted .319 with a team best 51 hits, including six doubles and one home run. He also drove in 30 RBIs and scored 40 runs.
