By: David Toelle, KWU Sports Information

STERLING – Dustin Romero had three hits and drove in five runs in game one, and Carlos Sanchez had four hits including a homerun, while driving in five in game two as the Coyotes swept Sterling 14-9 and 11-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

It was the first doubleheader sweep for the Coyotes in KCAC play this season.

Chad Peterson added three hits in game one and Matt Garretson drove in three runs on two hits for the Coyotes in the 14-9 win in the first game.

The Coyotes also capitalized on five Sterling errors.

Andrew Masojc hit his second homerun of the season in the first game.

Sanchez’ four hits moved him into the team lead with 34 with his four hits in game two, and his homerun padded his team lead with five round trippers.

Shaun Sumter grabbed the win in game one, for his first win of the season, pitching one and two-thirds innings, allowing just one hit and no runs.

Greg Byron went the distance in game two, allowing one run on three hits while striking out six and walking just one. He improves his record to 5-3, and recorded his second complete game this season.

The Coyotes return to action on Saturday with a home doubleheader against Tabor at 1:00 PM at Evans Stadium.
