The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference has selected Kansas Wesleyan’s Casey Barnes as the KCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his efforts during the week ending March 23.
Barnes, a sophomore pitcher from Chandler, Ariz., tossed a complete game in a 2-1 win over Williams Baptist (Ark.) on March 17. He went seven innings, allowing just four hits and giving up a single run, which was unearned. He struck out eight batters and walked just one.
The win improved Barnes’ record to 2-0 heading into Monday night’s contest with Sterling.
Kansas Wesleyan took a four-day, four-game, four-state tour during its Spring Break and finished the trip with a 2-2 record.
The Coyotes are 11-7 overall and 4-2 in KCAC play after Monday night’s sweep of Sterling at Dean Evans Stadium. Barnes took the win in the first game of the doubleheader, tossing a complete game, scattering two runs on eight hits, while striking out ten and walking just one.
Wesleyan is back in action on Wednesday, taking on non-conference opponent Dana (Neb.) in a doubleheader at Dean Evans Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
