Brandon Mathes

Kansas Wesleyan’s Nick Allaire and Brandon Mathes were named as the KCAC Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for their efforts in games between March 24 and March 30.

Allaire, a junior from Arvada, Colo., pitched one game last week, with a 1-0 record. In the game against Dana (Neb.), he pitched five innings, giving up one earned run on six hits, while striking out 11 and walking three in KWU’s 11-1 run-rule win over the Vikings.

Mathes, a junior left fielder from Mustang, Okla., played in four games and finished the week with incredible numbers, batting .800 (12-15) in the No.2 spot in the lineup, had no less than three hits in each game helping the Coyotes move to the top of the KCAC Standings.

Kansas Wesleyan recorded a 6-0 record last week (including two forfeit victories over Bethany College), while improving to 6-2 in KCAC play and 15-7 overall, and sits atop the KCAC standings heading into play this week.
