Kansas Wesleyan Cross Country coach Jeff Barker adds another caliber student-athlete to the mix with the signing of Shanda Anderson to a letter of intent.
Anderson, a native of Marquette, has been at Butler Community College the last two seasons, running for coach Kirk Hunter.
While at Butler, Anderson was part of the Grizzly women’s cross country team that captured both the 2006 and 2007 NJCAA Region VI Championships. Butler also finished fifth in 2006 at the NJCAA Women’s National Championships, and followed that up with a second place finish at the 2007 Championships. She was twice named NJCAA All-American at Butler.
“Shanda comes from a high caliber program at Butler,” Barker said. “Coach Hunter continues to bring in high caliber athletes and the signing of Shanda is a testament to our commitment to keep KWU Cross Country at a championship level.”
Before Butler, Anderson excelled at Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg.
Shanda is the daughter of Cheryl and Craig Anderson of Marquette.
