Cross Country teams run at OSU Cowboy Jamboree

STILLWATER, Okla. – Kansas Wesleyan’s cross country teams competed on Saturday in the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree at the OSU Cross Country course.

Wesleyan competed in the college division races, which featured 27 men’s and women’s teams, 242 men’s runners and 218 women’s runners.

In the women’s race, Sarah Williams again was the top finisher, completing the 5K course in 18:52, earning her sixth place. Kara Walker finished 46th with a 20:22, Shanda Anderson finished 72nd in 21:00, Angela Gomez was 154th in 22:49, Brittany Brown was 156th in 22:54 and Angela Padilla was 199th in 25:15. As a team, the Coyotes finished 15th with 352 points.

The Coyote men finished 14th as a team with 352 points and were led by Jeremy Davies, who finished 36th with a 27:27. Next was Michael Rascon in 51st with a 27:49, Paul Minneman was 76th with a 28:27, Jose Silva was 123rd with a 29:32, Seth Schooley was 134th in 29:46 and Tyler Jensen rounded out the KWU finishers in 176th with a 31:13.  

“This was a very difficult course, but we did very well on it,” KWU coach Jeff Barker said. “We faced some stiff competition from all over the country and held our own. I was very pleased with the effort everyone put out today.”

Wesleyan will run next at the Butler County Ollie Isom Invitational on October 17, held at Wartick Ranch, which is approximately four miles south of the El Dorado campus.
