Kansas Wesleyan Cheerleading coach Sharon Callaway announces the signing of Kelsi Wetzel to cheer for the Coyote Spirit Squads next season. She will also play softball for Cheer and Dance head coach Jenny King, who also directs the KWU Softball program.
Wetzel has been involved with cheerleading since the age of five. From kindergarten to sixth grade she was a Pee Wee Cheerleader. She cheered in middle school in seventh and eighth grade and was a cheerleader in high school at Mart High School in Mart, Texas.
“She is very excited to cheer and has always enjoyed showing support for her teams,” said Callaway. “I really look forward to having Kelsi on our team. She is very spirited, athletic, and determined to do her best at every task given to her. Her parents are extremely supportive, and she is highly regarded by her high school cheerleading coach at Mart High School.”
In Softball she plays short stop, second base, third base and outfield for coach Darrell Lehmann. She was named as the 2007 Offensive MVP, and was named to the Super CenTex Team in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
She is the daughter of Tina and Gary Wetzel of Mart, Texas.
