Two Coyotes named NAIAFOOTBALL.NET All-Americans
By: David Toelle, KWU Sports Information

Darell Grames and Scott L’Ecuyer have been named as NAIAFOOTBALL.NET All-Americans released by Dannelly Media on Monday.

Grames

Grames, (6-2, 215, RB, Jr., Red Bluff, Calif. / Shasta JC) who led the NAIA in rushing this season at 162.8 yards per game, was named First Team NAIAFOOTBALL.NET All-American. Grames also was named the KCAC Offensive Player of the Year, as he accounted for nearly half of KWU’s total offense during the 2005 season. Grames also nearly broke the KWU single season rushing record held by NAIA Hall of Famer Charles Jessamy. Grames' 1628 yards fell 28 yards short of breaking Jessamy's record of 1665 yards set in 1971.

L'Ecuyer

L’Ecuyer (6-2, 205, LB, Sr., Valley Center, Kan. / Butler County CC) led the Coyotes in tackles in 2005 with 74, after missing the entire 2004 season with a knee injury. L’Ecuyer also had a team high 12 tackles for loss, while also pulling down one interception, and having five pass break-ups. L’Ecuyer was also named a First-Team All-KCAC selection in November.

"The talent on this season's All-American team is tremendous," said Jason Dannelly, owner/editor of Dannelly Media and NAIAFOOTBALL.NET, "Its makes it very tough when you travel the country all season to view NAIA football games and come back to try to say who is the best.  You get halfway through the list and realize there are some great players who made fourth team All-American or only honorable mention.  It just proves there is great talent level the NAIA."

The Coyotes rebounded from a 5-5 season in 2004 to post an 8-2 record in the 2005 campaign for their first 8-win season since 2002.
