After not having a NAIA National Player of the Week in football for 20 years, Kansas Wesleyan has had its second of the 2006 season as Darell Grames has earned National Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in Saturday’s 31-16 win over Bethany College.

Grames, a 6-0, 215 pound senior running back from Red Bluff, Calif., carried 35 times for 218 yards and four touchdowns in his final game at Kansas Wesleyan University. He also moved into third place in all-time career rushing list at KWU, passing Ron West on his first carry of the game.

Grames finishes his Kansas Wesleyan career leaving his name on several of the Coyote all-time top ten lists for football. He is ranked eighth in career total offense with 2,956 yards. He has the no.2 and the no.9 marks in season rushing with 1,628 yards last season, and 1,328 yards this season. He is third in career rushing with 2,956 yards in just two seasons with the Coyotes. His four touchdowns against Bethany tied him for fifth all-time in single game touchdowns. He also tied his own no.2 mark from the 2005 season with eight 100-yard rushing games this season. He also finished in a tie for tenth with 24 career touchdowns.

Kansas Wesleyan finished 8-2 overall and 7-2 in the KCAC, in a tie with Sterling for third place in the KCAC behind Co-Champions Friends and Bethel.
