The Kansas Wesleyan University Men’s golf team adds two more players to the 2008-09 recruiting class with the signings of Mel Simmons and Drew Callahan to letters of intent.
Simmons, a native of Buckeye, Ariz., comes to Kansas Wesleyan after prepping at Buckeye Union High School. While at Buckeye Union, his team was the regional champion the last three years, and Simmons was the Individual Regional Champion his senior year. He was also a four-time team MVP.
Callahan, a native of Papillion, Neb., comes to Kansas Wesleyan after playing the last two seasons at Iowa Western Community College. While at Iowa Western, Callahan was the team captain for the Reivers, while helping them qualify for the NJCAA Division I Golf Championships.
“I feel that both these players will be able to come in and make an impact on our team right away,” KWU coach Ryan Showman said. “They should be able to help us get back to a competitive level in the conference. I feel that with both these players on the roster, we are automatically a better team.”
