Matthew Williams has been the Director of Athletic Programs at Kansas Wesleyan since 2005.

Under his direction, the KWU athletic department has ascended to the top of the Kansas Conference, and made a name for itself nationally. In the four years that Williams has taken the Coyotes from a 66-55 record in conference play to a best ever 90-29 record in 2006-07, and most recently a 86-35 record in 2008-09. KWU has had the best combined record of the eight major sports (football, volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball and baseball) since the 2006-07 in the conference, and has won an unprecendented 25 Championships under his direction. Since Williams' first season, KWU is 329-152-1 in KCAC play and 555-387-10 overall. Wesleyan has sent five teams to the NAIA National Championships in their respective sports in the same time span.

Williams, a member of the KWU family since 1999, came to KWU after three years as Athletic Trainer at West Hills Community College in Coalinga, Calif. He took over the Athletic Training program at KWU, and transformed it from an internship program into a full-fledged academic major, and into the KCAC’s first nationally accredited Athletic Training Education Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education. He also has been an integral part of the development of KWU’s Master of Business Administration Degree with emphasis in Sports Management and most recently the undergraduate Sports Management degree.

Before taking the reigns of the KWU Athletic Department, Williams spent two seasons as the Associate Athletic Director at KWU, in charge of Game Day Operations for all Coyote athletic events.

Williams has a Doctor of Sports Management degree with emphasis in Sports Marketing from the United States Sports Academy, a Master of Business Administration degree from Kansas Wesleyan University, a Master of Science Degree in Athletic Administration from Idaho State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Boise State University.

He resides in Salina with his wife, Tonda, and daughter, Victoria.
