Coyotes crack NAIA Top Ten for first time since 2001

Kansas Wesleyan has jumped three spots to no.10 in the latest NAIA Division II Top 25 released today by the NAIA Sports Information office.
It marks the second highest rating in team history for the Coyotes. In 2001, KWU was ranked no.9 in the poll after starting the season 10-0.
The Coyotes made the three spot jump thanks to losses by former no.1 Sioux Falls (S.D.), who dropped to no.11, and former no.7 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) who plummeted 14 spots to the no.21 position. Also slipping spots were Albertson (Idaho) from no.10 to no.12 and Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) from 11 to 13.
Wesleyan’s 18-3 record is one of the best starts to a season in Men’s Basketball history. Wally Forsberg’s 1950 team went 22-2, and was 20-1 through 21 games. The last KWU team to win at least 18 games in a season was the 2001 squad which finished 20-10.
Riding a nine-game winning streak the Coyotes host Friends on Thursday, before heading to Sterling on Saturday.
