Faubion, Baron named NAIA All-Americans

OLATHE, Kan. – Kansas Wesleyan seniors Marcus Faubion and Jeff Baron have been named as NAIA Men’s Basketball Division II All-Americans.
Faubion, a 6-6 guard/forward from Glendale, Ariz., received Third Team All-American honors, after being named the unanimous KCAC Player of the Year last month. Faubion led the Coyotes in scoring (15.4) and rebounding (7.81) this season.
Baron, a 6-5 forward from Phoenix, Ariz., was named Honorable Mention All-American. Baron also earned All-KCAC honors last month, while averaging 12.4 points and 6.06 rebounds per game this season.
Two other Kansas Conference players were named as NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans: Greg Carrell from Friends and Steve VanArsdale from Ottawa.
Alex Kock of Huntington (Ind.) was named the NAIA-II Player of the Year.
Kansas Wesleyan finished the 2007 season with a school record 28 wins, and made the school’s first ever appearance in the NAIA Division II National Tournament, and the first appearance in a NAIA National Tournament since 1950. The Coyotes also captured the KCAC Regular Season Championship and the Post-Season Tournament Championship, another first for the Coyotes.
Four KWU players were named First Team All-KCAC, and coach Tommy DeSalme was named KCAC Coach of the Year in addition to Faubion’s selection as Player of the Year for the conference.
