Marcus Faubion named KCAC Player of the Week
By: David Toelle, KWU Sports Information

Marcus Faubion earned KCAC Player of the Week honors for the fourth time this season

Kansas Wesleyan senior guard Marcus Faubion has been named KCAC Player of the Week for his efforts in two wins last week for the Coyotes. He shares this week’s honor with David Birch of Ottawa, and it is the fourth time this season Faubion has earned KCAC Player of the Week honors.

KWU closed the KCAC regular season with two wins on the road at McPherson and at Saint Mary last week.

In a 73-56 win over McPherson on Thursday, Faubion had nine points, 10 rebounds,  five assists and four steals while playing in 28 minutes.

In Saturday’s 84-63 win over Saint Mary, Faubion had 31 points, three rebounds, four assists and five steals while just playing 30 minutes. He scored 10 of KWU’s first 13 points as the Coyotes built a 19-2 lead early in the game.

For the week, Faubion was 15-of-21 from the floor for 71.4 percent, 3-of-4 from three for 75 percent and 7-of-14 at the line for 50 percent. Faubion also averaged 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game.

The Coyotes clinched their first KCAC Championship since the 2000 season with the win over McPherson on Saturday.

Kansas Wesleyan (24-3, 17-1) is ranked no.7 in NAIA Division II. The Coyotes are one win away from tying the school record for wins in a season (25, 2000) and finished the KCAC Regular Season with a KCAC record 17-1 mark (since Saint Mary joined the KCAC in 2001). The Coyotes have secured one of the two automatic berths in the NAIA Division II National Tournament in Branson, Mo., on March 7.
