Coyotes No.3 seed in KCAC Men’s Tournament

The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Post-Season Tournament starts this week and the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes are the no.3 seed.
KWU will host sixth seeded McPherson on Thursday at 7 p.m., inside Muir Gym.
Wesleyan finished the season in a three way tie for second place in the final KCAC standings at 12-6, and was awarded the third seed after the application of the conference’s tiebreaker procedures.
Friends in the second seed, Southwestern is fourth and Sterling is seeded fifth.
The winner of the tournament receives the first automatic bid to the NAIA Division II National Tournament at College of the Ozarks beginning March 12 in Point Lookout, Mo.
The KCAC receives two bids to the national tournament. The second berth goes to the highest remaining seed regardless of finish in the KCAC tournament.
The KCAC tournament kicks off on Monday with a pair of “play-in” games. Seventh seeded Tabor hosts no.10 seed Saint Mary in Hillsboro at 7 p.m., and eighth seeded Bethany hosts ninth seeded Bethel in Lindsborg also at 7.
First round games are scheduled for Thursday. Regular season champion and top seeded Ottawa will host the winner of the Bethel at Bethany play-in at Wilson Fieldhouse in Ottawa. Southwestern hosts Sterling at Stewart Fieldhouse in Winfield. Second seeded Friends hosts the winner of the Saint Mary at Tabor play-in at the Garvey Center in Wichita, and the Coyotes host McPherson. All games begin at 7 p.m.
Semifinal action takes place on Saturday night at 7 p.m., at the home site of the higher seeded teams. The winner of the Ottawa vs Bethel/Bethany will take on the winner of the Southwestern vs Sterling contest. The winner of the Friends vs. Saint Mary/Tabor will take on the winner of the Wesleyan vs McPherson game.
The KCAC will crown its 2008 Men’s Tournament champion on Tuesday night, March 4, at 7 p.m., at the home site of the higher seeded team.
