Dallas Joins NATS Board of Review, will represent NAIA during AFCA Convention
By: Staci Schottman, NAIA National Office

Kansas Wesleyan head football coach Dave Dallas was selected to represent the NAIA on the NATS Board of Review.

OLATHE, Kan. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) President and CEO Jim Carr has selected Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU) Head Football Coach Dave Dallas to represent the NAIA on the National Athletic Testing System (NATS) Board of Review.

In his tenth year at the helm of the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes football program, Dallas is the longest tenured football coach in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). Since his arrival at Kansas Wesleyan in 1997, Dallas has a 48-42 record with the Coyotes and ranks third in all-time total coaching wins at KWU. Under his leadership, the Coyotes have captured two KCAC Championships (2001 and 2002) and two NAIA post-season championship berths.

"Coach Dallas epitomizes the best in NAIA college coaching and player mentoring," said NAIA President and CEO Jim Carr. "The NAIA will be well served by Dave's presence on the NATS Board."

Dallas will join fellow NATS Board of Review members in January 2007, in San Antonio, Texas, for the Annual Board of Review meeting during the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Convention.

The NATS Board of Review includes: Grant Teaff, Executive Director of the American Football Coaches Association; Tyrone Willingham, Head Football Coach at the University of Washington; Stephen Austin, Executive Director of Scout Camp Football Services, Scott Hallenbeck, Executive Director of USA Football; Richard Wong, Executive Director of the American School Counselor Association; Bob Ford, Head Football Coach at the University of Albany; Tim Dougherty, Trustee of the Illinois Football Coaches Association; Shawn Poppe, Past President of the New Jersey Football Coaches Association; Dave Land, Executive Director of the Indiana Football Coaches Association; Joe Russo, President of the Maryland Football Coaches Association; Rollins Stallworth, President of the Northern Nevada Football Coaches Association; Darwin Rost, Southern Nevada Football Coaches Association; Jack Meehan, Executive Director of the Colorado High School Coaches Association; Marty Rauch, Director of Development for NATS.

"The NATS Board of Review oversees all aspects of the NATS program and the addition of Coach Dallas will provide important perspective which will strengthen our governing capabilities," said AFCA Executive Director Grant Teaff.

NATS is a non-profit AFCA program and is a nationwide standardized athletic performance test that produces results that can be used to track and compare the players' athletic ability and development. In many respects NATS is an athletic version of the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) for high school football players. Most importantly however, the NATS is a means of providing players, parents, coaches and school counselors important requirements, financial aid and athletic performance analysis and preparation.
