Kansas
Wesleyan University announces the appointment of Zach Kindler,
a native of White Rock, Kansas, as the Head Coach of Cross-Country/Track
and Field. Coach Kindler completed his Masters of Sports
Administration from Fort Hays State University in May while
serving as Graduate Assistant under Coach Jim Krob of FHSU.
As an
undergraduate at Fort Hays, Kindler was twice NCAA II Academic
All-American, four times track and field All-American, and
was the NCAA National Champion in the Javelin throw.
Head
Coach Krob, of Fort Hays and former head coach at Bethany
College commented,
“When Athletic Director Jerry Jones, KWU, called me,
I thought of Zach right away. He is young, but full of energy
and will do a great job for Kansas Wesleyan.”
From
Jerry Jones, AD, KWU, “Zach is young, but I remind
you of the story of a young man who had just completed his
masters degree at Heidelberg University, Ohio, and was on
his way to Colorado when he made a short stop at Kansas
Wesleyan as football coach which led to a 33 year stint
for Gene Bissell as the greatest football coach in Coyote
history. Zach Kindler is a young man with special credentials,
the Dean’s Honor Roll, twice Academic All-American,
National Champion in the Javelin, and four times All-American,
and in addition, he is a really, really good man.
Under
Coach Krob, Coach Kindler has been trained in coaching multi-event
athletes. He is not limited to developing athletes in just
the throwing events. Zach is familiar with the recruiting
process and is going to do very well as he begins his career
coaching the Coyotes.”
Coach
Kindler comments, “ I have high goals for KWU in both
conference and national rankings. We will work hard and
dedicate ourselves toward being able to compete for the
KCAC championships. It won’t be easy. We have a long
ways to go. This is a great opportunity for me, and with
faith, hard work, and some dedicated recruiting, the job
will get done.”
