Women’s Soccer falls 3-1 in the NAIA Region IV Championship
From Salina Journal reports
Just one day after upsetting no.20 ranked Bellevue (Neb.) in the regional semifinals, the Kansas Wesleyan women’s soccer team could not stop a talented Park (Mo.) team, falling 3-1 to the host Pirates on Saturday afternoon at Julian Field at Parkville, Mo., in the NAIA Region IV Championship.
Wesleyan gave up three first-half goals, including one in the final minute before Kelly Holloway scored the Coyotes' lone goal in the 74th minute to avoid the shutout. Wesleyan finished the season 18-3-1.
"I don't think anybody expected this kind of season except us," KWU coach Mike Dibbini said. "The ball just didn't go our way today. It's seemed like we used everything yesterday. We just couldn't connect today."
"This was a good learning opportunity for our returning players," Dibbini said. "They were very positive after the game. They see where we want to be."
