KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas Wesleyan’s Women’s Soccer program made its first-ever appearance in the NAIA Top 25, being picked No. 22 in the NAIA Pre-Season Women’s Soccer poll released on Wednesday by the NAIA National Office.
The Lady Coyotes earned 43 points, edging out William Jewell (Mo.) for the No. 22 spot, as the Cardinals earned 42 points in the poll, as voted on by the coaches of the NAIA.
Only one other Region IV school received a national ranking, as Park (Mo.) was picked No. 12, to go along with their No. 1 ranking in the region, while the Lady Coyotes were picked second in the region, and were selected as the top team in the KCAC earlier this week.
The Lady Coyotes finished the 2006 season with an 18-3-1 overall record, including a perfect 9-0 in KCAC play as Wesleyan captured its first-ever KCAC Regular Season Championship, and went on to win the KCAC Post-Season Tournament Championship and advance to the NAIA Region IV Championship.
KWU opens the 2007 season on August 28 as they host Concordia (Neb.) at 4:00 PM.
