Macy, Beatty sweep KCAC and Region IV Women’s Soccer honors

LINDSBORG – Kansas Wesleyan Women’s Soccer made it a clean sweep of the KCAC and NAIA Region IV Women’s Soccer honors for the week as Janna Macy was named as Offensive Player and Kelli Beatty was named Defensive Player of the Week for their efforts last week.
Macy, a senior midfielder from Covina, Calif., scored three goals in two matches as the Lady Coyotes were perfect on the week, picking up wins over York (Neb.) and Avila (Mo.). Against York, she had two goals as Wesleyan routed the Panthers 6-0. In Saturday’s match against Avila, she had one goal as the Lady Coyotes beat the Eagles 3-0.
Macy shared the NAIA Regional Player of the Week honors with Saint Mary (Neb.) midfielder Molly McGowan.
Beatty, a junior goalkeeper from Diamond Bar, Calif., was perfect in goal for the Lady Coyotes in the two wins on the week. Against York, she played 45 minutes and faced no shots and had no saves. Against Avila, Beatty went the distance in the net, grabbing her fourth shutout of the season, only recording three saves on the night.
Nationally ranked at No.25, Kansas Wesleyan retained its No.1 NAIA Region IV ranking for a second straight week, while improving its record to 7-1 overall. Wesleyan opens KCAC play on Wednesday when they host Southwestern (Kan.) at Martin Stadium. Kickoff for the women’s match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., with the men’s match to follow shortly after.
