By: David Toelle, KWU Sports Information

Beatty

LINDSBORG – Kansas Wesleyan Women’s Soccer player Kelli Beatty was named Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in two wins for the Coyotes last week. It was the second consecutive week she has won the award.

Beatty, a junior goalkeeper from Diamond Bar, Calif., only allowed one goal in 135 minutes of action last week. Against Southwestern, Beatty played 45 minutes and only faced one shot and had one save as the Lady Coyotes shutout the Moundbuilders 5-0. Against Bellevue (Neb.), Beatty went the distance in net, only allowing one goal against the No.2 ranked team in the region.

Kansas Wesleyan retained its No.1 NAIA Region IV ranking, while improving its record to 9-1 overall. The Coyotes are in action on Wednesday at Bethel, before returning home for matches on Saturday against Sterling College as part of Homecoming 2007. The Wednesday matches kick off with the women beginning at 5 p.m. in North Newton,  while Saturday’s matches kick off at 11 a.m. at Martin Stadium.
