Kansas Wesleyan Women’s Soccer player Heather Muilenburg has been named as the KCAC and NAIA Region IV Player of the Week for her efforts in two wins last week for the Lady Coyotes.
Muilenburg, a sophomore forward from Salina, scored six goals in two matches on the week, in helping to improve to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in KCAC play.
In the match against Bethel (Kan.), she had four goals in Wesleyan’s 9-1 win over the Threshers. Three of her goals game back-to-back-to-back in about a 12-minute span in the first half. She also added a goal in the second half.
On Saturday against Sterling (Kan.), Muilenburg added another pair of goals as the Lady Coyotes won 4-0. Both goals came in a one minute, seven second span in the first half that helped blow the match wide open.
Muilenburg, last year’s KCAC Freshman of the Year, has already scored 13 goals this season, and is leading the conference in total goals, and is tied for the conference lead in total points and points per game.
KWU is back in action on Wednesday when they host Friends beginning at 6 p.m. at Martin Stadium. The Coyotes then are on the road Saturday at McPherson.
