Kansas Wesleyan’s Men’s Soccer team finished its first week of the 2007 season with a 2-1 record.
The Coyotes opened the season with a dramatic overtime win at home over Concordia (Neb.) on Tuesday night at Martin Stadium. After Concordia tied the match at 1-all with 15 seconds left in regulation, Rashaun Thompson scored the game winner with 1:52 left in overtime to give the Coyotes the win.
The Coyotes suffered their first set-back of the season on Thursday against Baker. The Wildcats scored three times, knocking off Wesleyan 3-0.
Wesleyan rebounded on Saturday, easily dispatching Southwestern Assemblies of God 8-0. Mario Rodriguez scored three times for the Coyotes, while five others scored a goal each. Just like the women, SAGU only had one shot on goal against the Coyotes.
Both Coyote Soccer teams continue their six-match road trip this week, taking on Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday, and a two-day trip to Sioux City, Iowa, playing Morningside on Friday and Briar Cliff on Saturday.
