Kathleen Benton scored twice and Eliana Parada had two assists as the Kansas Wesleyan Lady Coyotes beat Friends 6-0 on Wednesday night at Martin Stadium.
Benton scored first in the tenth minute when she took a pass on the left side from Parada in front of the box and shot it past Friends’ Kelsie Gengler to put the Lady Coyotes up 1-0.
Benton would get her second of the night when she took a misplayed ball by a Friends defender and scored easily in the 18th minute to make it 2-0 Lady Coyotes.
Wesleyan (12-1, 4-0) would not score again until the 57th minute when Holly Ambrecht would score off a corner kick play. Benton would play the ball into the box off the corner and Janna Macy would find Ambrecht in front of the goal and she put it past Gengler for the score.
Macy would then get her chance in the 71st when she would score off a pass from Parada.
Heather Muilenburg would then score a minute and a half later when she took a ball in from the right side and put it just inside the right post for the goal.
Megan Couch would cap the scoring in the 84th minute for Wesleyan when she would go top shelf on a free kick.
Kelli Beatty went the distance in goal for the Lady Coyotes, as Friends was only able to take three shots, none of them on goal. Gengler also went the distance for Friends (2-6-3, 1-2-1) in goal, giving up six goals and tallying 13 saves.
Wesleyan outshot Friends 41-3 on the night, and had 12 corner kicks to Friends 0.
