Women’s Soccer concludes first week of play with perfect record
By: David Toelle, KWU Sports Information

Kat Benton scored five goals in her first three games as a Coyote

Kansas Wesleyan Women’s Soccer finished its first week of play with a perfect 3-0 record. It’s the first time under third year coach Mike Dibbini that the women have opened the season with an umblemished record.

The No.22 ranked Lady Coyotes opened things at home on Tuesday, routing Concordia (Neb.) 5-0 at Martin Stadium. Kat Benton had two goals and an assist to lead Wesleyan past the Bulldogs. Ashley Trinidad and Kelli Beatty split the shutout in goal, only facing one shot all afternoon.

Wesleyan then made its first road trip of the season on Thursday, facing Baker (Kan.) in Baldwin City. Benton again was the hero, scoring the only goal of the night on a penalty kick in Wesleyan’s 1-0 win over the Wildcats.

The Lady Coyotes then took a trip to Waxahachie, Texas, to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday afternoon. The Lions were no match for Wesleyan, as Janna Macy scored three times and Benton, Heather Muilenburg and Eliana Parada each scored twice as KWU routed SAGU 11-0. The Lady Coyote defense was again huge as the Lions on had one shot on goal the entire match.

Both Coyote Soccer teams continue their six-match road trip this week, taking on Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday, and a two-day trip to Sioux City, Iowa, playing Morningside on Friday and Briar Cliff on Saturday.
