Five softball players named All-KCAC

Five Kansas Wesleyan University softball players have been named to the 2006 All-KCAC teams. Short stop Diana Pereira and pitcher Ashley Coker were named First Team All-KCAC, while third baseman / utility player Gabby White, and outfielders Michelle Kalas and Krista Marsicek were named Honorable Mention All-KCAC.

Pereira
Coker

Pereira, a senior from Santa Clara, Calif., was named First Team All-KCAC at short stop. Pereira batted .293 for the Coyotes this season. She had 34 hits and was a team best 15-of-17 in the stolen base category. She was ranked second in total stolen bases in the KCAC with 15, and fourth in the KCAC in stolen bases per game.

Coker, a junior from Hays, was named First Team All-KCAC as a pitcher. Coker was 5-16 on the season with a 5.21 ERA in 27 games. She started 21 games and had 20 complete games. She struck out 134 batters while walking 98. Coker was ranked first in the KCAC in total innings pitched, tenth in innings pitched per game, first in total strikeouts and second in strikeouts per game.

White
Kalas

White, a junior from Waco, Texas, was named Honorable Mention All-KCAC as a third baseman / utility player. White hit .250 for the Coyotes with 25 hits, two doubles, two homeruns and 16 RBI’s. Her homerun and RBI totals were team bests. White also saw considerable action at the pitcher position, where she went 2-10 with a 7.82 ERA in 15 games. She pitched 65.1 innings and had seven complete games.

Kalas, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev., was named Honorable Mention All-KCAC as an outfielder. Kalas hit .191 for the Coyotes this season with 17 hits and 11 RBI’s. She also had three doubles to lead the Coyotes.

Marsicek

Marsicek, a senior from Narka, was named Honorable Mention All-KCAC as an outfielder. Marsicek hit .279 for the Coyotes this season with 24 hits. She had 15 RBI’s and one homerun on the season.

The Lady Coyotes finished the 2006 campaign with a 7-29-1 overall record and a 7-9 record in the KCAC.
