Kansas Wesleyan split with Tabor College in a Tuesday night double header at Bill Burke Park. The Lady Coyotes were able to capture the opening game 4-2, while dropping the second 10-2.
It was the KCAC opener for the Coyotes, who grabbed their first win of the season in game one. After three singles by Michelle Kalas, Ashley Coker and Gabby White, Torrie Stone knocked home a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Coyotes added another pair in the bottom of the fifth, using an error by the Tabor second baseman and a sacrifice to score.
Tabor scored a pair in the top of the sixth, but was unable to rally against Wesleyan pitcher Ashley Coker, who went the distance for the Coyotes, stroking out 12 along the way.
Tabor got on the board first in the second game with a run in the bottom of the second, and two more in the third. The Lady Coyotes were able to score two in the top of the fourth, but Tabor added another in the fifth, and put five on the board in the sixth to force the game on the run rule.
Tabor manufactured their big sixth thanks to five walks by Wesleyan pitching, and four wild pitches. Gabby White took the loss for the Coyotes who drop to 1-13-1 overall and 1-1 in the KCAC.
The Lady Coyotes are on the road next Monday at Southwestern, and on April 8 at McPherson. They return home on April 11 to face Saint Mary.
