Kansas Wesleyan has captured its first KCAC Regular Season Softball Championship since 1998 after the games scheduled against Sterling were canceled and will not be made up.
The Lady Coyotes share the title with Friends and Ottawa, who both finished their regular seasons last week with identical 13-3 conference records.
Winners of the its last nine games, Wesleyan finishes the regular season 21-14 overall and 11-3 in the KCAC.
KCAC softball officials awarded the Lady Coyotes a share of the 2007 championship after inclement weather conditions forced the postponement and eventual cancellation of Tuesday’s games that were scheduled for 5:00 at Bill Burke Park.
Kansas Wesleyan has enjoyed a drastic improvement over last season’s 7-29-1 overall record, and 7-9 in the KCAC. The Lady Coyotes have improved 14 wins from last season, and are four better in the win column and six better in the loss column in conference play.
The KCAC Post-Season Tournament is scheduled to begin today in Winfield with the Lady Coyotes taking on Sterling at 6:00 at the Broadway Recreation Complex.
