King named to head KWU Softball
By: David Toelle, KWU Sports Information

Jennifer King will be the next coach of the Kansas Wesleyan University Softball Program, as announced by Director of Athletic Programs Matthew Williams on Friday.

King succeeds Williams who was the interim softball coach in 2007, after Mike Smith was released in October.

“Jennifer has done a fantastic job with our cheer and dance programs, and she will certainly continue that trend with the softball team,” Williams said. “She will work hard to keep the team in the upper half of the KCAC.”

King played collegiately at Bethany and was the starting pitcher for the Swedes’ 2000 KCAC Championship team. After Bethany, she moved on to Fort Hays State University, completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, while playing softball for the Tigers. She also spent one season as Student Assistant coach.

King is working toward her master’s degree in Sports Administration from Wichita State University.

KWU softball finished the 2007 season with a 22-16 overall record and were tri-champions of the KCAC.
