For the second straight week, Kansas Wesleyan has placed at least one player in the KCAC Softball weekly honors. After last week’s Ashley Coker sweep of both the player and pitcher of the week awards, Megan Duchene has been named as the KCAC Softball Player of the Week for this week.
Duchene was also named the NAIA Region IV Co-Player of the Week as the top selection. She will move on for consideration for NAIA National Player of the Week, which will be released on Wednesday.
Duchene, a sophomore outfielder/infielder from Bourbonnais, Ill., hit .600 in four games on the week, with nine hits, including a double and two home runs, helping the Lady Coyotes to four wins last week, and nine straight overall.
In Friday’s doubleheader with Tabor, Duchene was 3-for-4 in the first game with three hits and two RBIs. In game two, she was 1-for-3 with a three-run homerun as part of a nine-run first inning for Wesleyan.
On Saturday at Saint Mary, Duchene went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, including a double and another homerun, her eighth of the season, this time a two-run shot giving KWU the 5-2 lead. In game two, she was 1-of-4, and drove in two RBIs.
The Lady Coyotes (21-14, 11-3) host Sterling today in the regular season finale before playing in this weekend’s KCAC Post-Season Tournament in Winfield.
