KWU Softball signs three for 2009

Kansas Wesleyan Softball coach Jenny King announces the signing of three players for the 2009 season. This brings King’s recruiting class for 2008-09 to a total of 14 players.

Mary Morrison, Stacie Torkelson and Alison Clark have all signed to be Coyotes next season.

Morrison, a third baseman and catcher from Rowlett, Texas, will play for the Coyotes next season. Morrison is currently a senior on the Rowlett High School team under the direction of Dianne Jones. So far this season, Morrison is batting .298, with 14 hits and five doubles. She has been a four-year starter at RHS.

She is the daughter of Michael and Kim Morrison of Rowlett, Texas.

Torkelson, a catcher and first baseman from Nampa, Idaho, will play for Wesleyan in 2009. Torkelson is currently a senior at Middleton High School in Middleton, Idaho, playing for coach Lisa Stout. Torkelson has earned Second Team All-Southern Idaho Conference honors at catcher each of the last two seasons.

She is the daughter of Wayne and Tavia Torkelson of Nampa, Idaho.

Clark, a catcher, infielder and outfielder, from Loveland, Colo., will play for Kansas Wesleyan next season. She is currently a senior at Loveland High School, playing for coach Linda Hewitt. She won the “Unsung Hero” Award in softball.

She is the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Clark of Loveland, Colo.

Kansas Wesleyan University is located in Salina, Kansas, and is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and plays in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). The KCAC is a conference of ten small private institutions all located in the state of Kansas.
