KWU Softball announces five signees for 2009

Kansas Wesleyan Softball coach Jenny King announces the signing of five players for the 2009 season.
King is in her first season as softball coach at Kansas Wesleyan, being named to lead the program last May, succeeding Matt Williams, who served as interim coach during the 2007 season, leading the Coyotes to a KCAC Tri-Championship.
Molly Alves has signed with Kansas Wesleyan University. A native of Klein, Texas, Alves will finish her senior season with Klein High School this spring for coach Chas Morse. Alves is a pitcher, but can also play first and third base, as well as in the outfield. She was named as team captain for her club team, Hit Away 18U.
She is the daughter of Allen Alves and Karen Alves of Klein, Texas.
Brooke Todd has also signed with Kansas Wesleyan to play softball next season. Todd, a native of Pasadena, Texas, comes to KWU from Pasadena Memorial High School where she played for coach Lindsay Vanover. She is a catcher / first baseman.
She is the daughter of Lisa and Troy Todd of Pasadena, Texas.
Maya Jackson will play softball at Kansas Wesleyan University next season after signing a letter of intent with the Coyotes. She is primarily an outfielder by trade, but can also play third base.
Jackson, a native of Sugar Land, Texas, is a senior at Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin, Texas. While at Austin High, she has been a four year letter winner in both volleyball and softball in addition to being named varsity captain in both sports. She was named second team all-district. She is also a member of National Honor Society and has received the Academic Excellence award.
She is the daughter of Tchelinda Jackson of Sugar Land, Texas.
Kristen Partin has signed with Kansas Wesleyan to play softball next season for the Coyotes.
The native of Deer Park, Texas, comes to KWU from Deer Park High School where she played third and first base for coach Mary Siebert.
Partin is the daughter of Terry and Cindy Partin of Deer Park, Texas.
Ashley Burkeen has signed with Kansas Wesleyan Softball for next season.
The native of Bacliff, Texas, is completing her senior season at Dickinson High School in Dickinson, Texas, for coach Kati Broom. She is a shortstop.
Burkeen is the daughter of Debra Warren of Bacliff, Texas.
Four of the signees - Todd, Jackson, Partin and Burkeen – play together for coach Bill Jones and the Texas Impact LC Gold, which is a member of the League City, Texas, Girls ASA Softball Program.
