Katie Coker earns KCAC and NAIA Region IV Softball honors

Kansas Wesleyan’s Katie Coker has been named as the KCAC Co-Pitcher of the Week, and also earned NAIA Region IV Pitcher of the Week honors for her efforts in last week’s games.
Coker, a freshman from Russell, Kan., pitched in two games for the Coyotes, picking up two wins. In a 9-0 victory over Southwestern, Coker pitched seven innings, allowing just one hit and no runs, while striking out 15 and walking just one. In an 11-1, five-inning win over Saint Mary, Coker pitched all five innings, giving up one earned run on two hits while striking out 10 and walking two. For the week, Coker threw a total of 12 innings, giving up three hits (1.5/gm), and one run (0.5/gm), which was earned. She struck out a total of 25 batter (12.5/gm), walked three (1.5/gm), and had a 0.58 ERA for the week.
Coker shared the KCAC honor with Ottawa’s Pam Johnston.
With a 4-0 record on the week, Kansas Wesleyan improved to 10-9 overall and 4-0 in KCAC play, leading the conference heading into this week’s play.
