Brent Mooney named to coach KWU Tennis
By: David Toelle, KWU Sports Information

Brent Mooney has been named as men’s and women’s tennis coach at Kansas Wesleyan University as announced by Director of Athletic Programs Matthew Williams on Monday.

Mooney succeeds Donnie Jackson who departed for Independence Community College along with Tommy DeSalme at the end of last month.

“I am very excited to get the chance to be a head coach at the collegiate level,” Mooney said.

Mooney is no stranger to KWU, as he played for the Coyotes for two seasons before heading to Bethany (Kan.), playing for one year and then being assistant coach the previous two.

He is also the head tennis pro at the Salina Country Club.

Before coming to KWU to play tennis, Mooney played at Independence (Kan.) Community College.

Mooney is excited about his chance to make the Coyote tennis teams contenders in the KCAC under his leadership.

“We will do everything it takes to turn this tennis program around,” he said. “Salina is the perfect community to do that in. It’s one of the best tennis communities I have ever seen.”

Mooney begins his duties with the Coyotes immediately.

Kansas Wesleyan University is a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The KCAC is comprised of ten independent institutions in the State of Kansas.
