Coyotes earn several All-KCAC marks at Conference Championships

The Kansas Wesleyan University track and field teams came away with several All-KCAC performances in the two-day KCAC Championships held last weekend at Bethany College.
The Coyotes collected 15 All-KCAC marks in various events.
Matt Case, a freshman from Nunn, Colo., placed fifth in the men’s discus and third in the men’s shot put.
Scott Brown, a senior from Mankato, placed fourth in the men’s javelin.
Adam Franklin, a freshman from San Antonio, Texas, placed sixth in the men’s shot put.
Andrea Velez, a senior from Topeka, placed sixth in the women’s 5000m.
Tiffany Turner, a freshman from Lansing, placed fourth in the women’s hammer throw.
Amy Waterman, a freshman from Jewell, placed third in the women’s shot put and sixth in the women’s hammer throw.
Lauren Chatman, a freshman from Arlington, Texas, placed third in the women’s 400m and sixth in the women’s 200m.
Amy Grace, a freshman from St. Francis, placed fourth in the women’s 400m hurdles.
Amber Canterbury, a senior from Howard, Colo., placed fifth in the women’s 400m hurdles.
Nicole Heptig, a junior from St. George, placed fifth in the women’s 1500m.
The women’s 3200m relay team consisting of Grace, Velez, Heptig and Ashley Toews placed fourth.
The women’s 1600m relay team consisting of Canterbury, Grace, Heptig and Velez placed sixth.
The Coyotes look to try to qualify more athletes for the NAIA Nationals, held May 25-26 in Fresno, Calif., at the Bethany Last Chance Meet in Lindsborg this weekend. Women’s javelin thrower Alexa Rogers has already qualified for the National Championships and currently has the ninth best throw in the nation.
