Tabor College came ready to play as they swept the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes, 30-25, 30-24, 35-33, in a Saturday morning KCAC match-up at Muir Gym.
Tabor dominated games one and two, and held off several KWU rallies in both games.
Game three was a different story, as the Coyotes jumped out to a big 14-6 lead, but couldn’t hold on, as Tabor rallied, and was able to come away with the 35-33 win. Wesleyan had game point five times, but couldn’t capitalize.
“The team has been playing some great volleyball lately, but unfortunately we came up short today,” head coach Gordon Reimer said. “Tabor is a very good volleyball team that doesn’t make many mistakes.”
The Coyotes were led in kills by junior Kristal Griffeth, who had 12, while senior Tessa Showman and junior Kelli Berg each had nine. Doris Kometani had 34 assists, while Sarah Carlson had two aces. Sophmore Kayla Banzhaf had 10 digs for the Lady Coyotes, who drop to 15-10 overall and 11-5 in the KCAC.
The Coyotes are on the road on Tuesday at Saint Mary, before wrapping up the regular season at home on Thursday against Sterling College.
