Volleyball wins tenth straight match, concludes regular season Thursday
By: David Toelle, KWU Sports Information

Kansas Wesleyan won its tenth straight volleyball match with a five game victory over the Ottawa Braves, 24-30, 18-30, 30-18, 30-20, 15-13, on Tuesday night at Wilson Field House in Ottawa.

The win is the second over Ottawa this season, and extends the KWU win streak to ten matches heading into Thursday’s regular season finale against Saint Mary.

Kolby Rhoades, who was named KCAC Player of the Week for the third straight week on Tuesday, led the Coyotes in kills with 20, and in blocks with two solo and three assist blocks. Kristal Griffeth added 13 kills to go along with one solo and five assist blocks.

“We have to give a little of the credit for tonight’s win to (KWU HPER Professor) Joel Maiorano,” head coach Gordon Reimer said. “He did some team building exercises with the team before we left today, and it helped us especially when we were down tonight.”

Caitlan Rush had 30 assists, while Landree MacLennan added nine. Whitney DuBois and Kelli Berg each had two aces, and Naomi Hobayan, this week’s KCAC Libero of the Week, had 20 digs.

The Coyotes wrap up the regular season at home on Thursday against Saint Mary at 7:00 inside Muir Gymnasium.
