The Coyote Express kept on rolling Saturday afternoon as the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes defeated the Bethel Threshers 30-25, 23-30, 30-28, 22-30, 15-9 at Muir Gymnasium.
It was the ninth straight win for the Coyotes, who are 7-0 in the second half of KCAC play, and the second straight win over a top team in the KCAC. Wesleyan knocked off KCAC leading Tabor on Wednesday night.
“We are just playing really well right now,” Head Coach Gordon Reimer said. “It was another big win for us, we played hard, and got a big win over a top team in our conference.”
With the win, the Coyotes move into a tie for second place in the KCAC with Bethel, two games behind Tabor.
Kolby Rhoades led the Coyotes in kills with 19, while Kelli Berg had 14 and Kristal Griffeth had 13 as three KWU players had double-digit kills. Landree MacLennan had 49 assists for the Coyotes. Whitney DuBois had three aces to lead the Coyote serving corps while Naomi Hobayan had two. Hobayan also led the Coyotes with 22 digs, while Rhoades added 12 for a double-double. Rhoades and Griffeth had a great afternoon blocking, as Rhoades had three solo blocks and one assisted, while Griffeth had three solo and two assisted.
The Coyotes (17-10, 12-4) wrap up the regular season this week with matches at Ottawa on Tuesday, and the final match of the regular season at home on Thursday against Saint Mary.
