Kristal Griffeth earns KCAC and Regional Player of the Week honors

Coming off a phenomenal week, Kansas Wesleyan senior middle hitter Kristal Griffeth has earned KCAC and NAIA Region IV Volleyball Player of the Week honors.
Griffeth, a Beatrice, Neb. native, averaged 4.5 kills per game in the two matches (six games) last week in Wesleyan’s two wins against Ottawa University and the University of Saint Mary.

Against Ottawa, Griffeth had 11 kills (3.67 avg) while having a .429 attack percentage. She also had two solo and four assisted blocks to help the Coyotes sweep the Braves in three games.
In the match against Saint Mary, the top blocking team in the KCAC (5.49 bpg), Kristal led an incredible offensive attack, as the Coyotes racked up 49 kills on the night against the Spires. Griffeth had 16 kills (5.33 avg) and an attack percentage of .652 on the night in three games as the Coyotes swept Saint Mary in Leavenworth. She also had five solo and two assisted blocks.
The two sweeps helped the Coyotes snap a three match losing streak and get back to .500 overall at 10-10, and finish the first round of KCAC play at 5-4.
The Coyotes improved their record to 11-10 overall and 6-4 in conference play Monday night with a 3-0 sweep of Sterling, 30-19, 30-18, 30-21. The Coyotes were led by Kolby Rhoades’ 13 kills, while Griffeth added 11 kills and 4.5 blocks.
Next action for KWU is Wednesday when they host Southwestern at 7:00 PM inside Muir Gymnasium.
