Two Volleyball players earn KCAC Player of the Week honors
By: David Toelle, KWU Sports Information

Rhoades (3) puts down another kill in Tuesday's match vs. McPherson after being named KCAC Player of the Week earlier that day

Two Kansas Wesleyan Volleyball players have been named as KCAC Players of the Week for their efforts in Kansas Wesleyan’s two wins last week.

Kolby Rhoades, a 5-8 junior Outside Hitter from Burlington, Colo., was named as the KCAC Volleyball Player of the Week. In the two matches last week, both 3-0 sweeps of Sterling and Southwestern, Rhoades averaged 5.33 kills per game in the six games while having a .450 hitting percentage. The West Texas A&M transfer also averaged 2.33 digs per game for the Coyotes.

Hobayan makes another perfect pass in the match against McPherson on Tuesday

Naomi Hobayan was named as the KCAC Co-Defensive Specialist of the Week. The 5-2, junior transfer from West Covina, Calif., averaged 5.33 digs per game in the six games for the Coyotes. She also had 11 service aces (1.83 avg.) in 47 serve attempts, with no errors.

Rhoades was able to extend her KCAC leading kill per game average to a perfect 4.00 with her explosive week. Hobayan’s play was key in the back row, keeping many opportunities open for the Coyotes to run offensive plays and put the ball on the floor.

With the two wins last week, Kansas Wesleyan extended its win streak to four matches, and went on to further that streak to five straight with a big 3-1 win over McPherson on Tuesday night.

The Coyotes are back in action Thursday night (October 19) against arch-rival Bethany College in Lindsborg.
