Coyote Volleyball signs a pair for 2007
By: David Toelle, KWU Sports Information

Kansas Wesleyan Volleyball coach Shawn Taylor has announced the signing of two players for the 2007 season.

Joining the Lady Coyotes next season will be Ashley Geasland and Rachel Ehrlich.

Geasland, a 5-8 outside hitter from Rogers, Ark., will come to Wesleyan from Rogers High School where she played for coach Jeana Breedlove.

She was part of the Lady Mountie team that finished the 2006 season 22-16, and advanced to the Arkansas Class 7A State Championship match, before losing to Fort Smith-Southside. She led the team with 271 kills and set a new school record with 475 digs.

Geasland was named Team MVP, and picked up 7A-West All-Conference honors and was named to the 2006 7A State Tournament All-Tournament Team.

“I see lots of good things at this school and with the volleyball program,” Geasland says. “They’re also building a new facility. It just looks like a good fit for me.”

Ehrlich, a 5-6 setter from Winfield, joins Taylor’s team for next season, after playing for former Southwestern (Kan.) coach Julie Konrade, who is now coach at Winfield High.

At Winfield, she was named Team MVP for four years and was named Second Team All-Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division II in 2006 after being named Honorable Mention in 2004 and 2005.

Kansas Wesleyan will open its 2007 Volleyball season, the first under the direction of Taylor, on August 28 at Park (Mo.) in Parkville, Mo.

Kansas Wesleyan University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), and is located in Salina.
