Sarah Claborn and Kolby Rhoades were named First-Team All-Region IV

Three Kansas Wesleyan University Volleyball players have been named to the NAIA All-Region IV teams for the 2007 season as released by the regional sports information office on November 19.

They include Sarah Claborn, Kolby Rhoades and Kelli Berg.

Claborn, a 5-8 junior outside hitter from Aurora, Colo., was named First Team All-Region IV after being named as the unanimous choice for KCAC Player of the Year last month. She led the KCAC in points per game at 5.85. She led both the KCAC and NAIA Region IV in kills per game at 5.03, and finished the season ranked seventh in the NAIA in kills per game. She was also ranked fifth in the KCAC hitting percentage at .279, sixth in aces per game at .52 and tenth in the KCAC in digs per game at 3.49.

Berg

Rhoades, a 5-8 senior outside hitter from Burlington, Colo., is a repeat First Team All-Region IV performer. Rhoades was third in the KCAC in points per game at 5.43, third in the conference in kills at 4.50 per game and eighth in the KCAC in digs per game at 4.07. Her numbers also earned her fourth in the region in kills per game, and 15th in the region in digs per game.

Berg, a 5-9 senior setter from Logan, Kan., was named to the Second Team All-Region IV list. Berg finished the season ranked fifth in the region in assists at 11.1 per game, while helping the Coyotes to the team’s first KCAC Championship since 1998. She also was ranked 14th in the region in aces per game.

Kansas Wesleyan finished the 2007 campaign with one of the best records in school history at 27-8 overall. The Coyotes won their first KCAC Regular Season Championship since the 1998 season, and its first KCAC Tournament Title since 1997 in convincing fashion. Wesleyan then advanced on to the NAIA Region IV Tournament and became the first-ever KCAC team to advance past the first round when the Coyotes knocked off Peru State in the first round, before bowing out to eventual national tournament qualifier Bellevue (Neb.), in the semifinals.
