LINDSBORG – Kansas Wesleyan Volleyball player Sarah Claborn has been named the KCAC and NAIA Region IV Player of the Week for her efforts in last week’s matches.
She shared this week’s honor in the KCAC with Lisa Runnebaum of Bethany (Kan.) and shared the NAIA Region IV honor with Amanda Cook of the College of Saint Mary (Neb.).
Claborn, a 5-8 outside hitter from Aurora, Colo., averaged 4.77 kills per game during the week in which the Lady Coyotes played six matches, going 4-2. She also averaged 1.14 aces per game and 3.23 digs per game.
Claborn had double digit kills in five of the six matches on the week, only having eight against Johnson and Wales (Colo.) where she played very sparingly, and had five double-digit dig matches on the week.
She tied a KWU school record for kills in a match with 28 on September 13 at Tabor with 28, as the Lady Coyotes won for the first time in Hillsboro since at least the 2000 season.
Claborn and the Lady Coyotes have jumped out to a 6-6 overall record and are 3-0 in conference play, extending Wesleyan’s KCAC regular season unbeaten streak to 14 matches.
Wesleyan is back in action on Wednesday as they head to Sterling to take on the Lady Warriors, before heading to Marshall, Mo., this weekend to play in the Missouri Valley Viking Classic. The Lady Coyotes return home in one week when they host Bethany at 7:00 p.m. at Muir Gym.
