Kansas Wesleyan University head women’s basketball coach Gordon Reimer announces the signing of Emily Luckeroth to a letter of intent.
Luckeroth, a 5-9 guard/forward from Irvine, Calif., comes to Kansas Wesleyan after playing the last two seasons at Irvine Valley College. While at IVC, she was a two-year starter for the Lasers and was team captain her sophomore season.
Luckeroth averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game for the Lasers this season, as they finished with a 11-17 overall record.
She was second on the team in scoring, second on the team in rebounding and led the squad in both steals and assists.
Luckeroth set IVC’s single game scoring record with a 39-point effort in the Lasers’ 94-66 victory over Golden West on January 24, 2007. The 39 points broke Luckeroth’s own previous record of 35, set in 2006.
Before Irvine Valley, Luckeroth starred at Palm Desert High School, where she was named rookie of the year and all-league honorable mention as a freshman, the league's leading scorer and first team all-league as a sophomore. She added second team all-CIF honors her junior campaign and first team all-CIF her senior year. She was named the team's most valuable player as a sophomore, junior and senior and set the school record for points in a game with 42, while averaging 20.6 points, 3.8 assists and 3.3 steals a game as a senior.
The Lady Coyotes will kick off the 2007-08 season on November 2 at the Benedictine College Classic in Atchison, Kan., against Benedictine.
