Women’s Basketball picked seventh by media, eighth by coaches

WICHITA -- Kansas Wesleyan University Women’s Basketball was picked to finish seventh by the KCAC coaches and eighth by the media at the KCAC Basketball Media Day held at the Garvey Center on the campus of Friends University.
Kansas Wesleyan returns just full-time starters from last season, as has to deal with the losses of All-KCAC players Jentri Dixon and Ascendra Peters to graduation.
Wesleyan brought in a talented junior college recruiting class and a strong group of freshmen that will fix into the mix and provide immediate improvement to the Lady Coyotes for the upcoming season.
Southwestern was picked to win the conference by both the coaches and the media, earning 96 out of a possible 100 points in the coaches poll, and earned 90 out of 90 possible points in the media poll.
Ottawa was picked second by the media, but fifth by the coaches, while Sterling was third in the media and second in the coaches poll.
The top five in the coaches poll came out as: Southwestern 96 (6), Sterling 83 (2), Friends 71, McPherson 62, Ottawa 53. The number in parenthesis reflects first place votes received.
The top five in the media poll came out as: Southwestern 90 (9), Ottawa 70, Sterling 68, Friends 59, McPherson 54.
Kansas Wesleyan kicks off the 2007-08 season on November 2 against Benedictine in the Benedictine Classic in Atchison.
